The FEESP-CSN School Sector launched a survey on operating conditions in childcare services.
Originally developed in the 1970s as a response to the latch-key kid phenomenon, childcare services grew in popularity and schools quickly moved to create space for on-site services. The Regulation respecting childcare services provided at school has not been updated since then and offers very little guidance for this service, which is now used by nearly 60% of children in Quebec. Furthermore, there is inadequate funding for this service and budget management widely varies from one school to the next. We now need to take a step back and identify existing problems.
A comprehensive overview of the situation will allow us to be better equipped to demand better quality services and working conditions from the ministère de l’Éducation.
We are asking for your collaboration to encourage and mobilize all your members working in childcare services and lunch supervision to answer this survey.
Childcare service workers have until March 27, 2020 to fill out the questionnaire.
