{"id":8741,"date":"2021-09-29T10:19:14","date_gmt":"2021-09-29T14:19:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/appa.qc.ca\/emsb\/?p=8741"},"modified":"2021-10-12T10:32:21","modified_gmt":"2021-10-12T14:32:21","slug":"national-day-for-truth-and-reconciliation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/appa.qc.ca\/emsb\/national-day-for-truth-and-reconciliation\/","title":{"rendered":"National Day for Truth and Reconciliation"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"kvgmc6g5 cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql ii04i59q\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><strong>September 30, 2021, will be the First National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada.<\/strong><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"o9v6fnle cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql ii04i59q\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">As education workers, committed to the health and happiness of our students, the thousands of lives destroyed during the 167 years of the residential school system hit close to our hearts.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"o9v6fnle cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql ii04i59q\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">The repercussions of these terrible actions have echoed through generations. It was always known there were atrocities committed at residential schools, but they were rarely acknowledged by our government. The discovery of the remains of 215 children on the Kamloops Residential School grounds was the catalyst. Since then, many more unmarked graves have been found all over the country.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"o9v6fnle cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql ii04i59q\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">The rich and diverse cultures of the First Nations, Inuit, and M\u00e9tis peoples were almost lost to the world. We cannot undo the past, but we can recognize, honour and give back the power to those who can keep their nations and cultures alive.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"o9v6fnle cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql ii04i59q\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Show that every child matters.
