Over 71% of classrooms are already equipped with wall units.\u00a0 Music rooms, laboratories and other non-classrooms will be equipped soon.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"http:\/\/appa.qc.ca\/emsb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Lettre_SMA_Lecteurs_C02_2022-01-22.pdf\">the letter<\/a> sent by the Ministry of Education in January, a CO2 concentration of under 1000 ppm is desirable, but should not exceed 2000ppm.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Below are some tips to help better ventilate classrooms in naturally ventilated buildings:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Crack open one or more windows when students arrive while maintaining a comfortable room temperature;<\/li>\n<li>When students are not present, open windows as wide as possible to promote air circulation;<\/li>\n<li>Keep the classroom door open if possible;<\/li>\n<li>Open vasistas (small windows above classroom doors) if they exist;<\/li>\n<li>Create additional air circulation by opening corridor windows and keeping the doors of the other rooms on the floor open.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure to maintain an ambient temperature above 20\u00b0C. A balance between temperature and CO2 levels are recommended.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>For mechanically ventilated buildings, no action is necessary until CO2 levels exceed 1000 ppm. <\/strong>Then, measures such as opening windows should be taken to start the ventilation process.<\/p>\n<p>If the CO2 levels exceed 2000 ppm in either case, please inform the school administration who should apply the required corrective measures established by Material Resources.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>Your occupational health and safety committee<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8702 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/appa.qc.ca\/emsb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/sante-securite-logo-web-292x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"126\" height=\"122\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The EMSB Material Resources Department is currently finalizing the installation of carbon dioxide (CO2) detectors in schools.
