{"id":9208,"date":"2022-09-28T15:12:59","date_gmt":"2022-09-28T19:12:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/appa.qc.ca\/emsb\/?p=9208"},"modified":"2022-09-28T15:12:59","modified_gmt":"2022-09-28T19:12:59","slug":"the-common-front-widens-as-apts-becomes-a-member","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/appa.qc.ca\/emsb\/the-common-front-widens-as-apts-becomes-a-member\/","title":{"rendered":"The Common Front Widens as APTS Becomes a Member"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Montr\u00e9al, September 28, 2022 \u2013 At the beginning of a new round of negotiations to renew public sector collective agreements, the <em>Front commun<\/em> is proud to announce that the APTS (Alliance du personnel professionnel et technique de la sant\u00e9 et des services sociaux) is now joining its ranks, which already include the CSN (Conf\u00e9d\u00e9ration des syndicats nationaux), the CSQ (Centrale des syndicats du Qu\u00e9bec), and the FTQ (F\u00e9d\u00e9ration des travailleurs et travailleuses du Qu\u00e9bec). The Front commun now represents over 420,000 workers and will speak on their behalf in contract talks with the next government.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe arrival of the APTS as a member of the <em>Front commun<\/em> shows how strong the solidarity is between our organizations,\u201d says APTS president Robert Comeau. \u201cIt also shows how determined we are to get better pay and working conditions for our members, in order to improve their standard of living and provide Quebecers with accessible, high-quality public services.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Comments on APTS membership in the <em>Front commun<\/em> also came from Fran\u00e7ois Enault, CSN 1st vice president in charge of public and para-public contract talks; CSQ president \u00c9ric Gingras; and FTQ president Daniel Boyer. \u201cWe\u2019re proud that APTS workers have joined the <em>Front commun<\/em>,\u201d say these union leaders. \u201cIn our view, upcoming contract talks will be the next government\u2019s first opportunity to revitalize our public-sector systems, all of which have been under extreme pressure as a result of the pandemic and the labour shortage. Significant improvements in pay, working conditions, and conditions of practice will be key elements in attracting new employees and retaining employees with expert knowledge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Front commun<\/em> demands are designed to meet these challenges, and will be presented this fall when they are tabled with the Treasury Board.
