JOURN\u00c9E NATIONALE DE LA V\u00c9RIT\u00c9 ET DE LA R\u00c9CONCILIATION<\/h2>\n

En tant que travailleurs de l\u2019\u00e9ducation engag\u00e9s envers la sant\u00e9 et le bonheur de nos \u00e9l\u00e8ves, les milliers de vies d\u00e9truites au cours des 167 ann\u00e9es du syst\u00e8me des pensionnats nous touchent de pr\u00e8s. Les r\u00e9percussions de ces actions terribles se sont r\u00e9percut\u00e9es \u00e0 travers les g\u00e9n\u00e9rations. On a toujours su que des atrocit\u00e9s \u00e9taient commises dans les pensionnats, mais elles ont rarement \u00e9t\u00e9 reconnues par notre gouvernement.<\/p>\n

Les cultures riches et diverses des peuples des Premi\u00e8res Nations, des Inuits et des M\u00e9tis ont presque disparu du monde. Nous ne pouvons pas d\u00e9faire le pass\u00e9, mais nous pouvons reconna\u00eetre, honorer et redonner le pouvoir \u00e0 ceux qui peuvent maintenir leurs nations et leurs cultures en vie.<\/p>\n

Cette journ\u00e9e est l\u2019occasion de rendre hommage aux enfants qui n\u2019ont jamais pu retourner chez eux et aux survivants des pensionnats ainsi qu\u2019\u00e0 leurs familles et leurs communaut\u00e9s. Porter du orange<\/span><\/strong> le 30 septembre pour rendre hommage aux milliers de survivants des pensionnats.<\/p>\n

NATIONAL DAY FOR TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION<\/h2>\n

As education workers, committed to the health and happiness of our students, the thousands of lives destroyed during the 167 years of the residential school system hit close to our hearts. The repercussions of these terrible actions have echoed through generations. It was always known there were atrocities committed at residential schools, but they were rarely acknowledged by our government.<\/p>\n

The rich and diverse cultures of the First Nations, Inuit, and M\u00e9tis peoples were almost lost to the world. We cannot undo the past, but we can recognize, honour and give back the power to those who can keep their nations and cultures alive.<\/p>\n

This day honours the children who never returned home and survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities.
