STRIKE ACTION, DAY 1: A FIRST DAY UNDER THE SIGN OF SOLIDARITY… AND WITH THE PROMISE OF MORE STRIKE DAYS TO COME

The sun had barely risen on the picket line in front of the Collège de Maisonneuve, in Montréal, when Front commun spokespersons announced the dates of upcoming strike days from November 21 to 23, 2023.

All across Québec, thousands of us were speaking up loud and clear. Our banners were high, our trumpets and voices could be heard from afar, and honking horns told us that people supported us.

So far, despite our determination, the government doesn’t seem to have gotten the message. The Treasury Board offer on October 29 suggested a paltry improvement of only 1.3%. Going from 9% to 10.3% over five years, the proposed raise would in no way solve the problems caused by the huge pay gap we’re experiencing. On the contrary, it would make us poorer.

When nothing’s moving at the bargaining table, there’s only one thing we can do: show that we’re united and strong,

TOGETHER AS ONE.
