Minister Drainville`s seven-point plan for improving Quebec’s education system.

Education Minister Bernard Drainville has outlined a seven-point plan for improving Quebec’s education system, including the return of a fast-track diploma system to boost the number of legally qualified teachers.

Drainville said he got another message during his tour: teachers want help in managing their increasingly complex and diverse classrooms. To get there, he said he would like to build on a successful pilot project in which daycare educators working in the same school lend teachers a hand at times when they are not doing other tasks.

Currently, a teacher working alone has to cease teaching for matters such as a student feeling anxious or needing to go to the washroom. Daycare educators could also help organize the classroom before the day starts.
