Why are you important?
Joe Cacchione

A high school mathematics teacher for five years and a member of various management teams for 25 years, Joe Cacchione has always placed each individual at the heart of his actions.

He has always supported his school teams with participative management. Aware that management has the power of final decision, he invites his staff to have a power of influence that is not negligible.

During his talk, he will discuss “who am I?” in an organizational sense for the support staff, the perception we have of ourselves, the place we take, the importance of being seen and heard. In short, the question behind this reflection: who am I for my workplace?

Beyond his experience in schools, he also has 37 years of show business activity. He works as a comedian and magician and promises you a presentation tinged with all his personality.

Support and Growth While Coping With Adversity
Sylvain Guimond

Life is rarely a long lazy river….no one goes through their life without facing some sort of adversity.  The health crisis we lived through in the early part of 2020 was very difficult for many of us.  On the other hand, each crisis we have endured in life presents us with a positive side.   Incidentally, in Japanese, the word crisis has two meanings: danger & opportunity.   Therefore, the ability to reconstruct following a crisis, does indeed exist.

Sylvain Guimond, doctor in sport psychology, has followed many athletes, both professional and amateur, as well as several professional teams of various disciplines throughout his career.   With his vast experience, he was able to transfer his expertise so that these athletes and organisations could live through the difficult periods and find the strength to pick themselves up and trudge through.  Therefore, the workshop SUPPORT AND GROWTH WHILE COPING WITH ADVERSITY is intended as a springboard to successfully stay the course through turbulent times, to make sense of the storm and grow from the experience.

IMPORTANT INFO ON CONVENTION ATTENDANCE

APPA members will be released by the union to attend one day of the convention without loss of salary. A member may choose to attend for two days if they are granted permission by their supervisor. They must use a personal day for the 2nd day.

Your supervisor may decide which day (18th or 19th) you are to attend the conference if it affects the services at your school.  Therefore it is important to talk to your colleagues and your supervisor before registering so that there is an adequate presence of staff at your place of work.
